The Tyrone pairing of Brendan Mc Donagh & Paul Heaney made history in Omagh last weekend when they became the first ever All Ireland 8Ball Doubles champions when Ireland’s Pub Players 8-ball Pool Tour hosted there first ever doubles event on there tournament diary which attracted top players from throughout Ireland…..

In the early stages of the tournament both Brendan & Paul was playing outstanding pool recording some convincing results along the way until they reached the ¼-finals when things started to get a wee bit tougher but both players kept there nerve and took it in there stride to get over the line on all occasions…….

The standard and interest of pool throughout Co. Tyrone at the minute is second to none and that was also shown in the last-16 by another Tyrone pairing of young Gareth Quinn & Adam Gibney who defeated current N. Ireland internationals Willie Eakin & Lee Hull from Coleraine on a 6-5 score-line only for Gareth & Adam to be beat by the current champions Brendan & Paul in the next round, when the champions had to come from 4-3 down before getting over the line on a 6-4 victory to move into the semi-final.

Four Semi-finalists LtoR:
Brendan Mc Donagh / Paul Heaney (winners), Adam Mc Mackin Daryl Bettie,
Ronnie Boyle / David Mc Quillan (runner-up) and Billy Moore / Jimmy Moore

In the semi-final Brendan & Paul came up against two more top quality players, this time it was Billy Moore and Jimmy Moore from Ballymoney, Co. Antrim with Billy also being a current international with N. Ireland and who played with them in this years 2007 World 8Ball Pool Championship in Blackpool when N. Ireland reached the semi-finals only to be defeated by England but this reputation didn’t stop Mc Donagh & Heaney by recording another great victory on a 6-3 score-line to progress into the 2007 All Ireland Doubles Championship final……
